Attentive Fire does Service and Maintenance Contract is a cost effective way of managing your maintenance visits on your fire alarm system, and gives you peace of mind that your equipment will work when it is needed most - in the event of a fire.

Service and Maintenance, all in accordance with BS5839:

Fire Alarm Servicing needs to be carried out by a competent person with specialist knowledge of fire alarm systems and in depth of the fire alarm system servicing guidelines. Fire alarm servicing is required in accordance with BS5939 section 6: 44.

Once a fire alarm maintenance or fire alarm servicing contract is in place, our office will contact you and will arrange a convenient time for our fire alarm system engineer to attend your premises.

Attentive Fire will make servicing your fire alarm system an effortless legal obligation for you. Our trained engineers will carry out your fire alarm servicing in accordance with BS5839-1:2013 and offer you a cost effective way to ensure your system operates correctly, giving you peace of mind.

Weekly Fire Alarm Testing:

A weekly fire alarm test is require to make sure that fire alarm system is operational. The weekly test should be done at the same time every week.

Weekly Testing Procedure:

  • Liaise with all personnel in the building informing them when you plan to carry out the test.
  • Try and carry out the test at the same time every week.
  • Ensure that if the fire alarm is connected to an ARC (Alarm Receiving Centre), you call the ARC and put the system on “Test”.
  • Make sure you have a manual call point reset key. This will be required to reset the manual call point after you have activated it.
  • Go to a manual call point and activate it.
  • Wait for the Sounders to start.
  • Insert your manual call point reset key and reset the manual call point.
  • Check all other systems (i.e. lift, boiler, plat, doors etc.) connected to fire alarm system to make sure that they are operating as per fire alarm programme.
  • Return back to the fire alarm control panel and confirm that the activated manual call point address and the zone are correct.
  • If ok. Silence the Sounders and reset the fire alarm control panel.
  • Record the test in the fire log book.
  • Contact the ARC (Alarm Receiving Centre) and confirm they have received the fire signal and take the system off “test”.
  • User has to test different call point every week with same method.

Please note that if the fire alarm do not activate when tested, you have to make a log of this event to log book and contact your fire alarm service provider to investigate fault on the system.
